The local SEO checklist I run before touching anything else

Most local businesses do not have an SEO problem. They have a consistency problem.

Before I write a single line of content for a local client, I run the same nine checks: business name consistency across listings, category selection, service area accuracy, hours including holiday hours, photo freshness, review velocity, the primary landing page's title tag, embedded map presence, and NAP consistency on the site footer.

Seven of those nine take under an hour each. Together they usually move the needle more than three months of blogging.
