Why I build client sites in the block editor, not a page builder

A page builder gets you to a good-looking homepage fast. Then the licence renews, the plugin updates break a layout, and the site carries 400KB of CSS that nobody reads.

The block editor is slower to learn and cheaper to own. Patterns give you the same reusable sections. Theme settings give you a real design system instead of per-element overrides. And if the theme is ever swapped, the content is still clean HTML.

For a small business site that needs to last five years, that trade is worth it.
